Jenna & Greg | The Normans York

Jenna & Greg | The Normans York

It was so nice to be back at The Normans, York, for Jenna & Greg’s wedding. And lucky for us, the rain even held off for the majority off the day!

I shoot at The Normans on average 5 times per year, so it’s always interesting to see how each couple makes it unique and special to them, and these guys didn’t disappoint.

On the morning of the wedding, I arrived at the cottage on site where Jenna had spent the previous night. There was a very chilled atmosphere as the girls were getting ready and hair and make up was being done. In the cottage was just Jenna, her sister and her mum.

Jenna, it would seem, is notoriously late for almost everything. So she was suitably surprised to find herself ready and raring to go with about an hour and a half left to spare!

After going off and getting some photos of the stunning bouquets, I got some nice shots of Jenna playing with her baby nephew who was only 7 weeks new at the time of the wedding!

Then it was time for Jenna’s dad to see his little girl all dressed up for the first time, and, in what I imagine is true Brian form, he takes one look at Jenna and goes “Don’t you think you should start getting ready”. From that moment I knew I’d love this whole day – a bit of sarcasm makes me feel right at home!

The ceremony was lovely, with the addition of two beautiful readings and Jenna grinning throughout the whole thing. My highlight of the ceremony, possibly even the whole day, was when the registrar handed the marriage certificate over to Brian. He contemplated which pocket to put it in and Jenna shouts “Just stick it down your pants!”

The weather held out for us to complete our couples’ shots, group shots and even a full wedding party shot of everyone. It was ideal for us to get some candid shots of guests chatting and drinking, and being photobombed by Toilet Cat (The Normans resident feline family member) in the sunshine.

It was such a privilege to be asked to photograph Jenna and Greg’s special day. I think I can safely speak for everyone involved when I say it was a brilliant day to be a part of!
